Modifications to CS: GO Tournament

Counter-Strike_Global_Offensive

Heads up, CS: GO competitors! Our tournament staff have made a few modifications to the CS: GO tournament to better align the event with GSL competitive standards. Ultimately, the changes mean teams will have more opportunity to play more matches, and will hopefully have a more enjoyable tournament experience!

The major update is in regards to the format of the tournament, which will now include a group play portion:

  • The tournament will include a double elimination group stage portion that will ultimately feed into the tournament bracket stage.
  • The tournament bracket stage will be seeded based on team’s performance within the previous group play phase.
  • The bracket stage will follow a single elimination format and matches will be played in a best of 3 series. Teams will be seeded in such a way that teams that advanced from the same group will not play each other until absolutely necessary. The bracket will progress until there is only one remaining team – the champion.

You can read through all the settings by viewing the tournament PDF.

We’ll see you at Gamers for Giving this weekend! If you have any questions, feel free to join the CS:GO Discord server!

Everyone loves winning stuff. You know what else goes well with winning stuff? Helping to support a great cause. At Gamers for Giving this weekend, you’ll be able to do both!

Aside from accepting donations, we’ll be selling raffle tickets to help us reach the $100K fundraising goal at this year’s event! Our prize chest is the largest it’s ever been, and we can’t wait for you to see the line up of gear available to win!

Tickets will be sold for $5 each, or you can purchase a batch of five for $20. There is no limit to how many raffle tickets you can purchase, and attendees are allowed to win multiple prizes.

While we can’t spoil all the details, the grand prize of this year’s raffle will be a fully-built custom gaming PC. You’ll definitely want in on this year’s drawing!

There will be tons of other items given out, and aside from the grand prize (as well as a few DXRacer chairs), you will not need to be present to win. Tickets can be purchased throughout the weekend until 7 PM on Sunday, at which time the raffle drawing will take place.

Be sure to swing by the Gamers Outreach booth to learn more about our fundraising goal! We’ll see you on March 12th and 13th at the EMU Convocation Center!
